Loyal Order of the 704 Meeting – June 23, 2006

This is a flash report on the highlights of last night’s meeting of the Loyal Order of the 704, held in Denver, Colorado.

Well over 200 people attended our meeting. Rex and Pinky held sway over the group as we inducted nine new members.

Thanks to our new Order photographer, Jim Reola of James Associates, we now have photos of last night’s highlights. See the link on the left side of this page.

Nearly $5000 was raised in support of the Cable Center. The bulk of that comes from an amazing transaction which occured during the meeting. Russ Skinner, owner of the oldest known 704 (S/N 165) put his treasure up for sale which the proceeds to benefit the Cable Center. Ricky Luke, a new inductee, was the luck high bidder at $2704!

By vote of the membership, the rules have been amended to require new members to have served at least 30 years in our business as one of the criteria for membership in the Loyal Order. Under the old rules, 20 years was the minimum.

As usual, the deserts served last night were first class, but meetings with old friends was the true treat of the night.
